Love, Romance, and Enlightenment

Life is great. Life is tough. Life is life. Which of those three sentences is accurate or dare I ask true? Does it depend on what mood your in? Maybe the answer depends on if things are going well for you? Maybe things are not going as you always had planned deep down, with the whole everything is gonna be okay mentality that Disney movies have shown you to be true time and time again? Does it depend on you living in your head, your body, your soul or all of the above?

With highs there are always, without exception, lows. So some say if your able to stay centered and unattached you are not moved to either extreme and therefore more present and with a constant sense of stability. Sounds amazing right? Or maybe even a little boring?

So to me as a romantic, it begs the question... does one who adapts to that way of thinking miss out on fully experiencing the extreme ups and downs that we are raised by society to incorporate into our lives? Do we miss out on extreme passion and elation that the matrix of a world we have created and ingrained in our heads has to offer? One such obvious example would be "falling in love" and all the emotions and painful excitement that comes with that. Imagine never feeling those emotions, goose bumps, anxiety and excitement! Sounds terrifying and at the same time perhaps relieving!

Well if that is the case the plus side is that by reprogramming our thought process in such a way, we eliminate the deep suffering that comes with those dark and emotionally crippling lows, which, again, are an inevitable follow up to the highs. Because of course Change is constant.

Now, as a meditator I am inclined to sway towards the more centered philosophy. But I can't help that I love to fall in love. I can't help that I love the highs that the life I have known during my existence has had to offer me. In a strange way, part of me...I suppose has been the audience to my own life and in some kind of twisted manner has subtly enjoyed watching me go through the lows and suffering, drama, adversity and challenge. Challenges designed for me to overcome. Perhaps to feed my ego and tame my insecurities all at once.

Its all very confusing. Sometimes everything makes sense somehow and other times it all seems like utter nonsense. Sometimes I write music about equality or love or politics and other times about clubs, bottles and models!! So what!!? Deep, shallow or in between it is all real and a part of life as I know it. I CAN NOT BE DEFINED BY WHAT I SAY IN THIS MOMENT FOR EVEN ONE SECOND LONGER THAN THIS MOMENT!!! So already since my last sentence I have and continue to change. Like liquid I keep flowing and growing as do you. As does all. Rigidity and holding on is an impossible illusion. It is a FEAR based behavior. I keep changing. The world keeps changing. We grow, whether we know it or not. We must, therefore relinquish control over things that can not be controlled and step into the realm of acceptance and surrender. So for now I'm clear on that. But the question remains...romance, love, hate, pleasure and pain or enlightenment and a constant feeling of a happy neutral everlasting come what may? Good question Mams. I have no clue how to answer most good questions but its certainly something I think about today. Tomorrow I will change and grow and if tomorrow gives me the answer you will be the first to know about it.
